I provide a personal service to the local home user. The majority of
my work is done at your residence and I try and avoid taking
machines away for repair, so that you are able to see exactly what I
have done.
My main areas of expertise are:

Tutoring and advice.
I'm occasionally asked about supplying new computers but I tend not to get involved in this, primarily because I'm a one-man business and do not have the time to get involved in potential warranty claims on new machines. I will, however, happily give advice on where the best systems and/or deals are.
I don't charge a call-out fee as such - if I say I cannot help then there's nothing to pay. If I do any work then I charge £30 for the initial hour and if the job is liable to take longer, or I do need to take the machine away, then I'll tell you the cost beforehand. I can only accept cash or cheques at the moment (payable to 'Merrydown PCs', not to myself) as the banks still charge too much for card transactions.
Most jobs are completed within the hour. The only 'set-priced' item I do is reinstallation of Windows - this has a standard charge of £45 including all updates and basic security.
